An Ohio manufacturing plant that George W. Bush used last year as a backdrop to show how well his economic policies are working, the same one he calls a "well-managed company" and the kind of company to encourage, has just laid off 1,300 workers.

""How can I afford to get married, afford a house payment, maybe kids, if I don't have a job?" said Timken employee Shawn Higgins....1,300 jobs are to be cut...

Ironically, it was a little more than a year ago when President George W. Bush visited Timken's world headquarters heralding his tax cut and job creation plan."

Of course, one person who will not be feeling the pain of the President's economic policies is the man who decided to shut down the factory. Having earned more than $2.6 million last year, W.R. Timken stands to receive $59,000 in new tax breaks from President Bush this year - Timken also happens to have raised $600,000 for the President in one night.

"...In his ninth trip to Ohio, Bush chose Timken, an ally's business, and a tank plant in Lima for an across-state trip to promote his plan for $550 billion in tax cuts...

"The president recognizes Timken as a well-managed company...this is the kind of company he wants to encourage to grow..." said Rep. Ralph Regula, R-Ohio..."
